The Grease Absorber Paste is a gel-like solvent mixture with grease-absorbing properties, ideal for treating old grease stains on the armrests and headrests of smooth leather furniture, as well as leather steering wheels before recolouring.
Instructions for Use
Geist Grease Absorber Paste removes deeply absorbed grease and body oils from smooth leather, particularly on headrests, armrests, seating areas and steering wheels. It is normally used before recolouring or refinishing.
-
Check the leather type: Use only on smooth leather. Do not use on suede or nubuck. Take particular care with aniline or other absorbent leathers, as treatment may change their colour or appearance.
-
Test first: Apply to a small, hidden area. Allow it to dry completely and check for changes in colour, feel or finish before treating a visible area.
-
Prepare the surface: The leather must be dry and free from loose dirt. Clean it first if necessary and allow it to dry completely.
-
Apply the paste: Wear suitable protective gloves. Using a clean spatula, applicator or gloved hand, apply a thick, continuous layer that completely covers the greasy area.
-
Allow it to dry: Leave the paste undisturbed until completely dry and brittle. Drying time depends on the thickness applied, temperature and ventilation. Do not remove it while it is still damp.
-
Remove the dried paste: Carefully vacuum away the dried material. Remove any remaining loose residue with a soft brush. Do not rub the residue back into the leather.
-
Repeat if necessary: The paste may discolour or change texture as it absorbs grease. Repeat the treatment until no further improvement is achieved or the paste dries as a mostly white, even film without significant discolouration.
-
Prepare for recolouring: After the final treatment, remove all residue and prepare the leather with the appropriate Geist surface-preparation product. Ensure it is completely dry and free from grease before applying colour.
Important: Deep or longstanding grease contamination may have permanently damaged the leather finish. The treated area may remain lighter or darker and may require recolouring. Several applications may be necessary, and complete stain removal cannot be guaranteed.
Work in a well-ventilated area, wear the protective equipment specified in the Safety Data Sheet and keep the product away from children, excessive heat and frost. Seek professional advice before treating valuable, delicate or heavily contaminated leather.
